Christmas and Easter Trails

Running a Christmas trail or an Easter trail is a deeply engaging way to explore the Christmas and Easter stories with your local school(s) and wider community.

What is a trail?

A trail journeys through the key scenes of the story. Each one of these scenes is set up as an immersive zone including multi-sensory, interactive activities. The zones aim to provide safe spaces for spiritual exploration and dialogue.

Christmas Through the Keyhole and Easter Explored are both excellent trails that we recommend for use with primary school aged children.  These trails were developed by Liz Ogborne (former BSC Consultant) and Clare Haynes several years ago with Redland Education Centre. Both resources have been tried and tested by many churches and their local schools in a range of contexts all over the country. Redland Education centre no longer exists and so BSC is the official promoter of these resources.

Another great option is to run a prayer or reflective space with a seasonal theme e.g. Advent Reflective Space. The Prayer Spaces in Schools website has lots of resources to help you on this journey. Click here to explore more.

Lastly, Go Chatter Videos have developed a video-based trail called ‘The Christmas Story Trail’. This a super easy trail to organise for families in your local community. It could work well outside in the grounds of a church/school, or in the windows of local shops. Click here to find out more.

How can we help?

We love to see churches serving their local schools through deepening relationships. Hosting a trail is one of the ways churches can do this. We would love to hear from you if you would like any support in hosting a trail, a prayer space, or in anything related to building a connection with your local school. We work mainly with churches in the Bristol region.

We welcome donations

We do not charge for these trail resources, or for our consultancy and coaching services, We welcome donations from churches and individuals towards the cost of our work. A gift of £50 enables us to provide these resources and a support meeting with a church. Visit our online CAF Giving page.
